Oh My Gourd-ness!

Join award-winning artist, author, educator, and scientist John Muir Laws, aka Jack, for this fun, engaging, and empowering class on drawing and painting “gourd”-geous gourds in your nature journal. In this 2-hour live online class, you will learn how to draw and paint all kinds of gourds, from shiny, plump pumpkins to warty gourds with interesting twists and intricate color markings. Because of their challenging shapes and textures, gourds are a great way to get in some pencil miles that will apply to lots of other subjects. With his signature playfulness and good humor, Jack will demonstrate his best tips and techniques—using pencil, watercolor, and gouache—that he has learned through his 35 years of teaching, illustrating, and journaling.

Appropriate for all ages and levels.

Please make a tax-deductible donation of $25 or more if you are able, using the drop-down menu. This is a fundraiser to support food security for orphans at Amani Children’s Home in Tanzania. In this time of year when we celebrate the bounty of food and blessings that we have, let’s share a bit of our bounty with these children in need. Learn more about our ongoing outreach work with Amani here. Donations of $100+ made by 11/25 will be matched by an anonymous donor.

ABOUT JOHN MUIR LAWS
John Muir Laws is a principal leader and innovator of the worldwide nature journaling movement. John, who goes by Jack, is an award-winning naturalist, artist, scientist, and educator who has dedicated nearly four decades of his life to connecting people to nature through art and science. Over the years, that love has grown to a commitment to stewardship, nature conservation, and a passion to share the delight of exploring nature with others. As a writer, scientist, and artist, Jack has developed numerous interdisciplinary educational programs that train students to observe with rigor and to refine techniques to become intentionally curious. (See Resources.)
